We certainly love our theme parks in New Jersey, but if the kids are ready for a road trip, head to Brooklyn for a world-class theme park that has history dating back 120+ years.
Luna Park in Coney Island will open for the 2024 season beginning at 11 am on Saturday, March 23.
Part of the Opening Weekend tradition is an egg cream christening of the Coney Island Cyclone on Palm Sunday, March 24, at 10:45 am. The legendary Cyclone turns 97 this year, so the first 97 people to ride the wooden roller coaster will get a free ride and an egg cream treat, which is the classic Coney Island dessert.

New for this year, Luna Park is investing in park upgrades, new attractions and seasonal celebrations. The newest attraction, Electric Eden Raceway, has sustainable electric powered go-karts and video mapping gamification. Salt & Sizzle will have an upgraded menu. The arcade area is renovated, and there are two new retail locations so you can bring a piece of South Brooklyn home.
The Thunderbolt, New York City’s first-ever major steel roller coaster, will celebrate its 10th anniversary in June.

We definitely don’t want to rush the summer, but two beloved events await us in the fall:Â the annual Halloween Harvest and second-time Frost Fest.
You can spend the entire day at 50 attractions, watching performances, shopping and dining along Riegelmann Boardwalk.

And while you’re in Coney Island, entertain the kids at a sideshow circus, along the famous Coney Island beach and boardwalk, or at the nearby New York Aquarium. And of course, no trip is complete without a hot dog and fries from Nathan’s Famous.
Luna Park is located in Coney Island at 1000 Surf Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. Park hours vary depending on the day and the weather. Admission is free, with ride prices starting at $4.
