EZRA POLLARD / Maccabee Bar

A Boston bar owner is coming back to NY to share her Jewish heritage with holiday lovers, opening a Hanukkah-themed bar for the season.

Maccabee Bar opened in 2018 in MA by award-winning bartender Naomi Levy when she saw a gap in the holiday market.

“I love Christmas and all of the Christmas bars that pop up this time of year,” she says. “But I always felt like a tourist. There was never really anything for someone like me that wasn’t raised with Christmas.”

Whether you grew up celebrating Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanza or anything else, Maccabee Bar will satisfy your thirst for holiday cheer by creating a Hanukkah wonderland with special decor, themed cocktails and traditional bites.

This year’s new cocktails include the Latke Sour (apple brandy, potato, lemon, Havana & Hyde Bitters) and Ocho Kandelikas (Olive Oil Gin, honey, apricot, almond, lemon).

You’re sure to be hungry, so order the latkes or other Hanukkah-themed snacks from Ollie’s kitchen, as well as jelly donuts from The Doughnut Project
(Wednesday-Sundays only).
