Mariah Carey is arguably the Queen of Christmas. Her hit single from 1994, “All I Want for Christmas is You,” is 14x Platinum and signals the beginning of the Christmas season when the clock strikes midnight on Nov. 1.
It’s only August, but consider this her Christmas gift to her fans: tickets to her December shows go on sale next week, and she’ll be making stops in New Jersey and New York.
“Mariah Carey’s Christmas Time” will visit 20 cities across the country, including a stop at Prudential Center on December 13 and Barclays Center on December 17. Having gone to several concerts, we know it’s a festive way to spend the holiday season with your best friends or even as a mommy-daughter date night.
What’s extra magical is that this tour marks the 30th anniversary of Mariah’s legendary “Merry Christmas” album. She’s also currently wrapping up her Las Vegas residency through August 10, but then heads back there from January 31 to February 15, 2025, to continue “The Celebration of Mimi” tour.
During 2022’s “Merry Christmas To All” show, there was a mix of soulful Christmas music like “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” and “O Holy Night,” plus fan dance favorites like “Sleigh Ride” and “Oh Santa!” The only thing more impressive than her five-octave range was the gorgeous sets she had, designed with nutcrackers and Christmas trees, gift boxes and giant candy canes. She had a live band led by her longtime pianist, plus her backup singers (Trey Lorenz still sings for her!) and a full Gospel choir.
The highlight of the evening was when she performed a duet with her daughter, Monroe. Fans teased the performance during her concerts the week prior, but to hear it live is something truly remarkable. Roe has a beautiful, angelic voice similar to her mother’s. She performed again later on in a rendition of “Christmas Wrapping” by the Waitresses showing that she inherited her mom’s musical gifts. Mariah’s son Roc came out for a couple skits, too, with her showing much love to both her kids.
Mariah also did medleys of her non-holiday hits, and the crowd went crazy for mixes of song like “Honey,” “Heartbreaker,” “Emotions” and “Don’t Forget About Us.” It’s hard not to tear up during certain songs like “Hero.” Her voice is as strong as ever, putting to rest the notion that she lip syncs or doesn’t have the power she once had.
Possibly the most surprising part of the concert was when The Rockettes joined her on stage! The cheers couldn’t get any louder. They did their infamous kick line to her beats during a few songs, including the finale for “All I Want for Christmas Is You” which brought everyone on stage – including Santa – for confetti streamers and snow!
Tickets will be available starting with Verizon presale beginning on Tuesday, August 6. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale beginning on Friday, August 9 at 10 am at LiveNation.com. Fans can also purchase VIP Packages, which may include premium tickets, access to the pre-show VIP Lounge, exclusive VIP merch item & more.
