Dolly Parton Is Reading Bedtime Stories to the Kids

Hello, Dolly! Once a week country music icon Dolly Parton will be performing Goodnight with Dolly, a new weekly series created to help ease the kids’ anxiety during COVID-19 quarantine. . The new series ties in with her non-profit work with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The organization’s goal is to send books to children under 5 to help foster a love of reading at a young age. They’ve given away more than 130 million books. 

The new bedtime stories series debuts on YouTube on Friday, April 2 at 7 pm. The first classic she’ll be reading is The Little Engine that Could, an inspiring tale that is a perfect fit as we’re all struggling with adapting and pushing through this current challenge.

Dolly Parton joins a host of children’s book authors who are reading their books as part of the operation storytime movement, setting out to help make this time easier for families. And if that’s not enough you can catch other celebrities like Oprah, Kristen Bell, Wanda Sykes, Chris Pine, Viola Davis and more reading children’s stories on the YouTube channel StoryOnline.

Audible is offering free, on-demand storytime with Audible Stories, available to everyone, including those without a subscription. These include classic tales like Winnie-the-Pooh and Beatrix Potter, plus stories in six different languages.
