There are concerts and then there are candlelight concerts. What is a candlelight concert exactly?  You’ll hear songs played live by classical musicians while surrounded by candlelight and it’s truly spectacular.

Candlelight Concerts by Fever has rotating performances in 180 cities around the world. The concerts range from classical, jazz and ballet to pop and movie soundtracks. You can choose a night dedicated to Bach, the Beatles, Aretha Franklin, Beyonce and more, which are played on the piano, by a string quartet, by a brass band or by guitar players. They are held in theaters, venues, concert halls, churches and other spaces.

We had the chance to attend a New Jersey night recently at Adventure Aquarium in Camden. Not only were we surrounded by hundreds of candles, but also hundreds of fish and sharks. Our concert was called Magical Moments, with songs from Disney and Pixar played by a four-piece string quartet. “Magic” is correct! Beloved classics like “When You Wish Upon A Star” and “Beauty and the Beast” were coupled with “Married Life” from “Up,” “Arabian Nights” from “Aladdin” and “Bare Necessities” from “The Jungle Book.” You haven’t quite experienced Disney movie music until you’ve heard it live.

There were plenty of kids in the audience who were shaking their heads and tapping their feet. There were adults getting a drink from the bar, or sitting in the VIP section where dinner was served. In New Jersey, most Candlelight Concerts are held in Atlantic City, Hammonton, Jersey City, Newark and Princeton, but you can check the performance schedule for updates. They range from 60 to 75 minutes and are suitable for kids 8 and older.

Plus, Fever just announced a springtime special. During Candlelight Spring: A Tribute to Coldplay you’ll be surrounded by thousands of candles and thousands of fresh, beautiful flowers. The only show in the area is May 17 at the Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia.

We shine a light on these concerts on our Instagram page.
