October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is a good time to make sure you are up-to-date on screening. These events happening throughout NJ encourage mammograms, offer support and celebrate survivors and patients going through treatment. They also honor the memory of those who lost their battle with breast cancer.

Throughout October

Paint The Town Pink
Mercer County
The Young Professionals Group and Development Committee at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton will hold the 5th Annual Paint the Bar Pink on October 10 at Killarney’s Publick House in Hamilton; the Hamilton FMBA vs. Hamilton Police Benevolent Association annual soccer match October 4 at Veteran’s Park; the “In Your Breast Interest: Dinner with Doctors” on October 3 at RWJ Fitness & Wellness Center, “Breast/Chest Health” on October 15 at the RWJ Fitness Center; as well as a month-long T-shirt sale through the Hamilton Township Firefighter’s Mutual Benevolent Association.

Mondays in October

Mammo Mondays
The Great Gorge Golf Club, Vernon Twp.
Any golfer who brings proof of a scheduled or recent mammogram examination to the Great Gorge pro shop will receive a voucher for a future free round of golf.

October 4-6

The C Word
Mill Ballet, New Hope, PA
The stage play examines breast cancer and the meaning of life through a multimedia blend of music, dance and spoken word. There are additional performances October 25-27.

October 5

Pop’s Goes Pink: Breast Cancer Fundraiser
Linwood Fields at Pop’s Farm Market and Garden Center, Monroe Twp.
There will be a Balic wine tasting, food trucks, vendors, pet adoptions, a corn maze, a bounce house, hay rides and pumpkin picking, all to fundraise for breast cancer. Admission is free but certain activities have additional fees.

Jersey Shore Breast Cancer Walk
Monmouth Battlefield State Park, Manalapan
Warm up during a Zumba class before walking through the historic park to raise funds.

October 5-6

Englewood Family Wellness Weekend
Depot Square Park, Englewood
The Department of Health and the Hadnott Foundation will honor breast cancer warriors during a community festival and health fair. The bilingual fair will include health screenings, breast cancer resources, self-care resources, senior services, flu vaccines, mental health resources, cancer prevention tips, info on healthy pregnancy, diabetes and dental resources. There are also food trucks, kids’ activities, a live salsa band, a DJ,  vendors, a live cooking demo, group yoga and giveaways.

October 6

Breast Cancer Awareness Day
Little Falls Farmers Market, Little Falls
Support breast cancer awareness while you shop for produce and artisan crafts.

October 8

NJ Breastfest 24
Homestead Bar and Kitchen, Morristown
Murray’s Law, Cold Hill and Wilma will play a concert to benefit the I Love You More Foundation.

October 12

Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser
282 Lyons Ave., Newark
Breast cancer survivors will share their stories as you munch on food and drinks.

October 19

New Jersey Pink Pathway Breast Cancer Walk
American Dream, East Rutherford
The event put on by the Susan G. Komen Foundation will include a short program filled with stories of hope, inspiration, and remembrance before a 1-mile walk through the mall.

October 20

Making Strides of Point Pleasant Beach
Ocean and Arnold avenues, Pt. Pleasant
Join a non-competitive 3.1 mile walk that has no registration fee or fundraising minimum required. Wear your brightest shades of pink, put on comfortable walking shoes and rain protection, and walk the route from Jenkinson’s Boardwalk, down Ocean Avenue and around the Lake of the Lillies. After the walk, there will be activities, live entertainment, giveaways, snacks and survivor/caregiver recognition.

Beyond Pink Art Show
MarketFair, Princeton
The YWCA’s Breast Cancer Resource Center presents an inspiring showcase of art illustrating the journeys of breast cancer survivors and caregivers.

October 24

Beyond Pink: Opening Night
MarketFair, Princeton
Beyond Pink is a pop-up art show fundraiser benefiting the YWCA Princeton’s Breast Cancer Resource Center. Both sessions include light snacks and access to the art gallery.

October 25-27

Move Over Breast Cancer will host its fourth annual fundraising golf outing. You can head out to the tees, or join for dinner only.
