October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is a great time to remind yourself to get screened. There are events taking place throughout NJ to encourage mammograms, support and celebrate survivors and patients going through treatment and honor the memory of those we lost to breast cancer.

September 30

Pink Power Brunch Fundraiser
1776 by David Burke, Morristown
Our favorite NJ celebrity chef has curated a three-course brunch meal that will be served during a fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Included with brunch is a complimentary signature pink cocktail sponsored by AIX and Ketel One. The brunch also includes shopping and “pink” experiences, a DJ, a surprise giveaway basket and a special guest speaker. Proceeds benefit the Rippel Breast Center at Morristown Medical Center.

Microfiber Towel Sale
Spark Car Wash, Sicklerville, Woodland Park, Woodbridge and Mt. Holly
Spark Car Wash will raise money to support the Connie Dwyer Breast Cancer Foundation. You can purchase a limited edition pink microfiber towel for $5 anytime during the month, and proceeds will go toward providing access to critical breast health services for uninsured and underinsured women in New Jersey.

October 1

Vines of Life Walk
Laurita Winery, New Egypt
Walk around the vineyard property to raise money to cure cancer. You can decorate and personalize your T-shirt to say “I’m walking for …” There will be three wine and cheese stations along the path for those 21+; but this is open to all ages. After, there will be live music from Steve Berger. Note: This event was postponed from September 24.

Light the House Pink
1201 Hamilton St., Franklin
The breast cancer celebration includes a house lighting ceremony. Minister Joan Marshall will speak about wellness and self-care, while Dr. Coral Omene will talk about breast cancer prevention. Sister 2 Sister supports minority and underserved breast cancer survivors.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month Pop-Up Shop Event
24 Little Falls Rd., Fairfield
Support women, support the fight against breast cancer and support small businesses by shopping local. There will be music, raffles, vendors, and a swag bag for the first 10 people who enter.

Paulette’s C of Hope
CentraState Medical Center, Freehold
Join a 1-mile course, visit the Survivors Zone to celebrate those affected by cancer, and walk through the Memorial Garden. There will be food trucks, children’s activities, a butterfly release, lawn games, vendors, and raffles and auctions.


Breast Cancer Awareness Female Only Spar-A-Thon
Legacy Boxing Club, Wayne
Pretty Strong Project supports women and girls who want to box. They are partnering with Legacy Boxing Club for a morning of boxing training followed by sparring. All ages and levels are welcome. There will also be vendors on site.

Pink Dream PinkNic
Lewis Morris Park, Morristown
The pre-Pinktober fundraiser includes a pink-themed picnic in the park, plus guest speakers, a bra decorating kit, light refreshments and a raffle.

Little Falls Farmers Market

There are dozens of vendors who will be selling fresh produce, but the special theme on October 1 is Breast Cancer Awareness Day, with a benefit concert by Cabaret 4 a Cure and the American Cancer Society.

Weight Loss & Wellness Event
Sphericality Fitness Studio, Flemington
Coach Dorian Madreperla will host a transformative weight loss and wellness event for women, “Unlock Your Happiest Mind & Body.” An optional pre-event program includes a pilates/yoga stretching group fitness class with intention setting, followed by light snacks and socializing. You can also join the workshop online via Zoom. Proceeds will benefit Evolve Pink, a non-profit dedicated to giving women affected by breast cancer the tools to transform the most catastrophic event in their lives into the catalyst for empowerment, self-love, and greatness.

Zumba Party in Pink

Get moving during this fitness dance party. You are encouraged to wear pink. The class will be 90 minutes of Zumba dancing.

Virtua’s Mobile Health and Cancer Screening Unit 
Burlington and Camden Counties
A mobile van will be making its way through South Jersey to provide a faster, easier way for women to get screened. Services include 3D mammography, clinical breast exams, gynecologic exams, Pap tests to detect cervical cancer, colorectal screening options via a take-home stool kit or colonoscopy referrals, and PSA tests for men. Prescriptions are not needed in advance, and services are open to both the insured and unisured.

October 14

NJ POUND 4 Pink Vendor Event
Toms River Elks Lodge, Toms River
The fourth annual NJ POUND 4 PINK Vendor event raises money for Mary’s Place by the Sea, which is a respite home for women in NJ. Shop from the vendors on site, and also join a Pound workout class at 12 pm; a live drummer will play along with the music and a DJ to spin the tunes.

Breast Cancer Awareness Ride
Williams Harley-Davidson, Lebanon
The third annual ride is fully escorted throughout Hunterdon County, about a 90-minute ride. Wear pink and deck out your bike in pink. Return to the dealership after for a BBQ.

Let’s Talk Women’s Health & Wellness

The all-day gathering is about our well-being, living healthy and learning about the eight pillars of wellness. This race is put together to support everyone who has fought and is still fighting breast cancer.

PINKtober Bowl
Parkway Lanes Bowling Alley, Elmwood
For the second year, the bowling alley will be decked out in pink so that everyone from a seasoned bowler to someone looking to have fun can roll their ball down the lanes in support of breast cancer awareness. There will be light bites, plus music by DJ Kurell Law. Kids can get their faces painted.

Spark will donate 20% of total sales on October 28 across all locations to the CDBCF, which provides access to critical breast health services for uninsured and underinsured women in New Jersey.

Pink Party Comedy Show & Masquerade Party

For 6 years, Body Solutions has been helping to increase awareness and raise funds for Saint Barnabas Hospital where the owner/operator was treated in 2018. This year’s comedy show features comedian GL Douglas, along with a light buffet and masquerade party.
