Another Free Airshow is Coming to The Jersey Shore – This Time, to Wildwood

Thunder Over the Waves takes flight this weekend

The Golden Knights U.S. Army Parachute Team, Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, and Patrick McAlee Pitts Aerobatics will headline a brand-new airshow over the beaches of The Wildwoods this weekend.

For four hours on both September 5 and 6, 11 headlining acts will soar high above the beach, doing flyovers and performing aerobatic stunts. There will be military performers from the NJ Air National Guard, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, Dover Air Force Base, the Fighter Jets Inc. MIG-17PF Jet Team, ACEMAKER Solo Aerobatic Demo in the T-33 Shooting Star, Jerry Conley in the DH-115 Vampire Jet, the US Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, the US Coast Guard, USCG MH-65E Search & Rescue Demo, and more.

You can find a spot on the beach for free; the best place is by Morey’s Piers, between Mariner’s Pier and Adventure Pier. Or, buy a VIP ticket to sit on special spectator benches or find a VIP viewing area at a local hotel, pier or business.

Thunder Over the Waves Airshow will take place from 12-4 pm on September 5 for a practice day and September 6 for the main event over the beaches of The Wildwoods. The show is presented by The Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority (GWTIDA) and David Schultz Airshows.

After the airshow on September 6, you can head to the unofficial afterparty, The Wildwoods Food and Music Festival, from 2-8 pm at Byrne Plaza in Downtown Wildwood. There will be food vendors, craft vendors, a beer garden, and live bands.

For those on the Wildwoods Boardwalk, the simulcast will play through the boardwalk’s audio system. If you can’t make it, Saturday’s airshow will be simulcast live on radio station 98.7 The Coast (WCZT); you can download the free 98.7 The Coast app.
