Are your kids Barbie fans? The “Barbie You Can Be Anything: The Experience” is open at Liberty Science Center and families can wander through a 5,000-square-foot space of colors (lots of pink, of course). Images encourage kids to think about being an airplane pilot, surfing the waves, putting a robot to work, and taking wildlife photos, among 200 jobs Barbie has had over the past 60 years. There are five themed sections based on being an adventurer, a leader, a creator, a nurturer and a problem solver.
You’ll also learn about real-life role models who broke barriers, such as Amelia Earhart (aviation pioneer), Katherine Johnson (NASA mathematician and physicist), Laurie Hernandez (Olympic gymnast), Florence Nightingale (pioneer of modern nursing), and Ella Fitzgerald (jazz singer) – as well as Barbie’s creator, Ruth Handler.
Liberty Science Center is located at 222 Jersey City Blvd., Jersey City. The Barbie exhibit runs through September 2. The exhibit is included with your general admission ticket.
