What’s It Like to Get Botox? We Got an Inside Look

We asked Dr. John Paul Tutela of Tutela Plastic Surgery to show us how the popular cosmetic procedure works.

If you’ve ever thought about getting Botox, you’re not alone. In a recent survey of New Jersey Family readers, 58 percent said they’re very interested in having a cosmetic procedure—proof that mommy makeovers aren’t just for new mothers. A whopping 75 percent said they want to have a cosmetic procedure to feel better about themselves and 35 percent said they’ve already had some sort of cosmetic procedure.

Botox and fillers are among the procedures readers were most interested in as part of a mommy makeover. The others include: tummy tuck/liposuction, skin rejuvenation, laser hair removal, Coolsculpting and teeth whitening.

Dr. John Paul Tutela, the cosmetic surgeon behind Tutela Plastic Surgery in Livingston and New York City, attributes the rise in Botox to our social media-driven selfie culture. We asked Dr. Tutela, who is well known for his mommy makeovers, to show us what it’s really like to get Botox. We watched as he gave injections and were surprised at how quick and easy the procedure is. The most important thing to know before you get Botox?
