There are holiday lights and then there are holiday lights that reflect off of a lake that you can see from a hayride!
The Christmas Musical Light Show Hayride at Johnson’s Corner Farm is a 15-minute trip around the lake, which has not only the musical light show, but farm buildings dressed up for the season, lots of displays and inflatables, and movie screens in different spots. Music plays as you pass by the decorated barns, tractors and farmhouses.
There seem to be lights everywhere you look. Ask about the 3D sunglasses which turn all the lights into snowflakes. You’ll definitely be sharing these with your kids!
If you have kids with sensitivities, book a trip on the Serene Holiday Hayride which has low-stimulus lighting along with the music.
If you get a combo ticket, you can head to the Fire and Lights area of the Discovery Barnyard for s’mores by the fire, an open playground, a Nativity scene with live donkeys, and a feeding area with goats and cows. Kids can ride on little trikes, climb on a giant spider web and slide down the slides.
You can say hi to Santa inside the market at select times. No reservations are needed and there is no charge, but bring your camera. You can also check the schedule for Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus, where they will lead storytime. Reservations are required.
The Christmas Café is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for hot chocolate, hot cider, hot dogs and chili. Or shop inside the farmhouse bakery and farmhouse kitchen, which has everything from freshly baked goods and prepared sandwiches to holiday décor and farm staples. You can spend an hour inside alone browsing their selection. It will be hard to leave without a pie or apple cider donuts.
There are also chances to decorate gingerbread men and cookies on certain days.
Holiday activities at Johnson’s Corner Farm take place on select dates through December 23. Tickets start at $8.95 for the hayride and $15.95 for the combo ticket with the barnyard admission. If you have a group of 20 or more, you can come by during the week at a discounted price. The farm is located at 133 Church Road in Medford.
The farm will close for the season on December 24, and reopen in the spring for a year full of activities, starting with hayrides to pick fresh strawberries, blueberries and peaches; an Easter egg hunt, leading into summertime fruit picking; and fall festival activities.
