New Jerseyans are passionate about their food and now a new study has named two of our cities as top picks in the nation for foodies! Not only does our state have amazing restaurants, food festivals and street eats, our diverse population means we have access to some of the best international ingredients from all parts of the globe.
To determine the best (and cheapest!) foodie scenes, WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 29 key indicators of foodie-friendliness. “Our data set ranges from cost of groceries to affordability and accessibility of high-quality restaurants to food festivals per capita,” said the study authors.
Jersey City came in at number 40 on the list. With fantastic eateries like Battello and Maritime Parc and Smorgasburg, the open-air food market, it’s no wonder JC was chosen.
Newark came in at number 73. With standout favorites like Mompou for tapas and Spanish Tavern, there’s so much to taste in this city.
