The countdown to summer is on: the Meadowlands area is planning for 17 days of rides, games, entertainment, carnival food and more. The dates for this year’s State Fair Meadowlands are June 20 to July 7 (note: the grounds will be closed on June 25 for a private event).
There will be 100 rides and a Kiddie Land for the little ones. Pop some balloons, toss a few rings, or grab the sledgehammer along the Midway for some good old-fashioned fair fun.
This year’s free entertainment includes the vintage Circus Lena, which takes place inside an Italian-style big tent, with acrobats, aerialists, comedians and jugglers. Also thrilling is the Cycle Circus’s FMX freestyle show that has not only aerial stunts but also pyrotechnics (we love fireworks!). Jurassic Kingdom has life-like dinosaur puppets that interact with the kids. Illusionist Jay Mattioli brings a magic stage show. And get ready to root for your favorite porker Rosaire’s Racing Pigs. Put your dancing shoes on for the Michael Jackson Tribute Show June 21-23.
There will be friendly llamas, donkeys and ponies from Commerford Petting Zoo, as well as a lineup of live music on select nights, and the magic of Lance Gifford.
Come hungry, because The State Fair Meadowlands was featured on the Cooking Channel’s “Carnival Eats” in 2023. There will be everything from pizza, cheesesteaks, gyros, corn dogs and sausage and peppers to smoothies and 30 flavors of lemonade to funnel cake, fried Oreos and ice cream. You can also try a handful of alligator meat dishes – we’re not joking!
Fireworks are set for July 3 and 4 in honor of Independence Day. You’ll be able to see them from anywhere inside the fairgrounds.
Tickets are on sale. If you buy a Fun Pass, which must be done online in advance, you get a one-day ticket including admission, unlimited rides, entertainment, free shows, the petting zoo and free parking. Upgrade to a Fast Pass at the info booth and for an additional $15 you’ll get to skip the lines on select rides.
State Fair Meadowlands takes place at the Meadowlands complex in East Rutherford from June 20 to July 7; closed on June 25. Hours vary per day. The fairgrounds are located at 1 MetLife Stadium Drive in East Rutherford. Parking is free, or you can follow signs to Uber dropoff areas.
