NATIONAL BOBBLEHEAD HALL OF FAME

As the new school year kicks off, Rutgers fans can celebrate the release of a new collectible to show off their Scarlet pride! This morning, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled an officially licensed Rutgers Scarlet Knights bobblehead featuring Sir Henry, the state university’s beloved mascot.

Over the next two weeks, several new bobbleheads will be released but we’re most excited about Rutgers’ Sir Henry. Known for his fun presence at football games, basketball tournaments, and campus events, Sir Henry is a symbol of R-U Rah Rah! school spirit among students, alumni and fans.

The Sir Henry Bobblehead stands on a base that reads “Scarlet Knights” and is backed by the Rutgers logo. Sir Henry flashes a #1 sign with one hand while gripping his signature sword in the other.

Sir Henry has always been a central figure for the Rutgers community, but the university’s mascot wasn’t always a knight. Back in the days when Rutgers was known as Queen’s College, athletic teams were referred to as the “Queensmen.” For a brief time starting in 1925, a rooster—known as a chanticleer—was the official mascot. In 1955, after a campus-wide search, the mighty knight Sir Henry became the official mascot of Rutgers.

Sir Henry is a fixture at Rutgers football games and fans know Rutgers is the birthplace of college football. On November 6, 1869, Rutgers played Princeton in the first-ever intercollegiate football game. Rutgers won the historic game, 6-4, securing their place in sports history. In 2014, Rutgers joined the Big Ten Conference, elevating the program’s visibility on a national stage.

Rutgers has produced several Olympians across multiple sports. Among the most famous examples are Carli Lloyd, a two-time Olympic gold medalist in soccer and FIFA World Cup champion, and Todd Frazier, who played baseball for the U.S. in the Olympics before his career in Major League Baseball.

NATIONAL BOBBLEHEAD HALL OF FAME

“We’re thrilled to unveil this Rutgers Scarlet Knights bobblehead featuring Sir Henry, especially as the new school year begins,” says Phil Sklar, co-founder and CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. “It’s the perfect way for fans, alumni, and students to showcase their Rutgers pride!”

Sir Henry bobbleheads are available exclusively online for $35 each, with a flat-rate shipping fee of $8 per order. Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2,024, making them a true collector’s item. Orders will begin shipping in December, in time for the holidays.

Sir Henry is the third bobblehead inspired by a NJ university. The Bobblehead Hall of Fame also produced bobbleheads in the same style for Saint Peter’s University and  Fairleigh Dickinson University.
