In an annual poll through NJ Sea Grant Consortium, Ocean City was voted New Jersey’s favorite beach for the ninth straight year! (Our readers are in agreement as Ocean City was also voted best beach in our 2022 Garden State’s Best poll!) The winners were announced July 8 at Ocean City Music Pier.

As part of the New Jersey’s Favorite Beaches contest locals choose their favorite beaches by county and overall and Ocean City kept the top spot as best overall beach in NJ.

“Every year, we face new challenges. But Ocean City remains the best beach in the state and a beloved place for generations of families,” Mayor Jay Gillian said in a statement.

“I want to congratulate and thank the city team, our public works and public safety departments, the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Tourism Development Commission, the Boardwalk and Downtown Merchants associations, local businesses, all volunteer groups and the entire community in making Ocean City a wonderful town to live, work and play,” Gillian said.

This annual public poll began in 2008 to encourage pride for the Garden State’s beautiful beaches.

Here are the winners:

Overall First Place: Ocean City
