Morey’s Piers and Beachfront Water Parks are celebrating 50 years of fun with new amusement and culinary additions. The Wildwood institution is already beloved for its three amusement piers (Mariner’s, Surfside and Adventure) and two water parks (Ocean Oasis and Raging Waters).

This year, a new ride called The Runaway Tram will debut. It’s a family roller coaster that takes riders up 40 feet before twisting along 922 feet of track. The ride is inspired by the Wildwood Sightseer Tramcar, a trackless train that’s been a boardwalk staple for 70 years. The tram was originally built back in 1939 for the New York World’s Fair. The opening celebration for the ride is on June 27.

There’s also a new summer concert series at PigDog Beach Bar, a dog-friendly barbecue spot that opened last summer behind Raging Waters. Concerts run on Saturdays in July from 5-8 pm. While you’re there, be sure to try staples like brisket, potato salad and BBQ wings, plus over-the top signature items like the PigDog Dog, a foot-long hot dog topped with smoked pulled pork and jalapeños.

Morey’s has a huge selection of group dining spots. Besides PigDog, you can eat with a crew at spots like Jumbo’s Grub & Pub and Joe’s Fish Co., which has a new secret garden on the rooftop. Head there with up to a dozen people for sky-high views of the boardwalk, wine pairings and exclusive chef menus.
