NJ Tutoring Corps

Tutors can be expensive, so Laura Overdeck, founde of Bedtime Math and co-founder of Wake Up Call New Jersey, helped launch the NJ Tutoring Corps to offer tutoring opportunities to kids who don’t meet grade level expectations in math and do not have the financial resources to get extra academic support. Kids and their tutor meet in small groups two to four times a week, for 30 to 60 minutes, to review assignments.

The Fun With Math and Science afterschool enrichment program uses sports games to teach statistics, erecting structures to teach building skills, and science projects to develop their reasoning and critical thinking skills.
Wake Up Call New Jersey

Wake Up Call is a nonprofit organization focused on helping public school parents have a better understanding of how their kids are doing in math. More specifically, the organization is working on highlighting what is sometimes a disconnect between report card grades and math skills as shown on standardized tests. There’s also a program called Math Checkups, where you can quiz your kids (by grade level) on skills like counting, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, mental math and word problems.
XtraMath

XtraMath helps kids build math skills for 10 minutes a day, and it’s’ free. Get statted by creating an account, practicing daily, and reviewing progress reports.
The New Jersey School Boards Association has a range of family, teacher and technology resources for all subjects, including math, available here.
