If you were planning to be at Disney World for spring break this week, you may want to try your hand at making the theme park’s iconic Dole Whip dessert at home. While many knockoff recipes of the frozen pineapple treat have been shared online, Disney reportedly revealed a recipe similar to the famous dessert via its mobile app yesterday.
According to Nerdist, the theme park app shared a recipe that contains ice cream though the much-hyped Dole Whip at the theme park is dairy free. If you’ve never tried one, think pineapple or mango flavored soft serve that has no dairy, fat, gluten or cholesterol that’s also vegan. You can usually find one at select locations like Aloha Isle and Tamu Tamu at the theme park.
The recipe (for a single serving) reportedly shared on the app yesterday is as follows:
- 1 big scoop of ice cream
- 4 oz of pineapple juice
- 2 cups of frozen pineapple
- Add all ingredients to a blender until it’s a thick drink.
- Add your swirl and then you’re done.
While we can’t vouch for the recipe or say it’s in any way official, we do think it’s worth a try, especially if you’re looking to channel a spring break vibe while Disney World is shut down and you’re all stuck at home. And post-quarantine, if you are looking for one closer to home, Hoffman’s Ice Cream in Point Pleasant makes a version that’s almost as good as being in Disney.
