From La La Land to Whiplash, jazz lovers from across the nation are getting some long overdue recognition. It’s passionate, spontaneous, fresh—and coming to New Jersey.

Local music lovers, jazz artists and musicians-at-heart are all welcome to the Montclair Jazz Festival, a day-long outdoor music fest (and beloved annual outdoor celebration) held in Montclair’s Nishuane Park. Best part? It’s free!

The Montclair Jazz Festival, winner of the 2018 Discover Jersey Arts People’s Choice Award for Favorite Music Festival, features live music, a beer garden, parking shuttle, bike valet and plenty of concessions to explore between bands.

Browse food from around the world being dished out by restaurants like Bonjour Montclair, Churroland and Jack’s Seafood Shack.

Bringing the whole fam? No worries, this festival has something for everyone thanks to the Family Jazz Discovery Zone, perfect for the kiddos. There’ll be story time, dance parties and teaching assistants from JAZZ HOUSE.

After storytime, head over to the mainstage for performances by groups like the Dynasty Big Band, Royal Bopsters and headliners Eddie Palmieri and his Afro-Caribbean jazz sextet. Pack a blanket and lawn chairs so you’re comfortable from noon to 9 pm.

The Montclair Jazz Fest is rain or shine. No tickets required. For more information, visit montclairjazzfestival.org. For more fairs and festivals, check out our list!
