We’re inching closer to spring (yay!), which means even though you can’t put those winter jackets into storage yet, there are plenty of indoor, outdoor and Easter activities to look forward to this month. Belt out some tunes at Karaoke and Pizza, celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday or try some fun activities with your preschoolers before March is over.

Project Feeder Watch at Plainsboro Preserve

When: Every Saturday and Sunday until April 30
Where: Plainsboro Preserve, Cranbury
Deets: Whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned birdwatcher, the family can check out different birds and help scientists collect data on them.

First Friday Story Time

When: Friday, March 2
Where: Tulpehaking Nature Center, Hamilton
Deets: Little ones ages 3-9 can listen to a story about the Abbott Marshlands, plus participate in a craft or activity.

Karaoke and Pizza

When: Friday, March 2
Where: Warren County Library, Hackettstown
Deets: It’s the perfect match: karaoke, pizza…and you! Chow down on hot pizza and sing along to favorite songs. Registration required.

Maple Sugaring Living History

When: Saturday, March 3
Where: Echo Hill, Flemington
Deets: Visit a sugar farmer and his evaporator, take a peek at the American Frontiersman tapping trees and learn how Native Americans discovered maple sap. After your walk through history, taste real maple syrup on a silver dollar pancake.

Radical Rocketeers

When: Saturday, March 3
Where: Warren County Library, Hackettstown
Deets: On the first Saturday of every month, all ages are welcome to blast over to the library, where they can take a crack at rocket building. Basic supplies will be provided, but you can also bring your own. Registration required.

Art for Families: Play Ball

When: Saturday, March 3
Where: Princeton University Art Museum, Princeton
Deets: Saturday mornings are all about quality time with the fam. Get involved in a gallery activity and related art project. All ages can put their creativity to the test.

Seussology

When: Saturday, March 3
Where: Morris County Library, Whippany
Deets: Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ (belated) birthday with a unique performance. (If your kids are big Seuss fans, think about making a trip to the Dr. Seuss Museum in MA.)

Sugar Maple Celebration

When: Saturday-Sunday, March 3-4
Where: Duke Farms, Hillsborough
Deets: Have you ever seen a tree tapping? Get the full experience, including a wildlife nature hike, tree identification and climate change, and how they each relate to the creation of sugar maple.

Art Together

When: Sunday, March 4
Where: Zimmerli Art Museum, New Brunswick
Deets: Take a tour of the gallery, led by an instructor and join an interactive workshop geared toward helping families get creative together.

Ice Age Late Night

When: Wednesday, March 7
Where: Rutgers Geology Museum, New Brunswick
Deets: Spend an hour learning about Ice Age creatures like mastodons and saber-toothed cats, then try a themed craft and activity.

Maker’s Day

When: Saturday, March 10
Where: Warren County Library, Hackettstown
Deets: Get your STEAM on at the library where all ages can make a telescope and monstermallows, or check out demos on 3D printers and robots.

St. Patrick’s STEAM Hour

When: Friday, March 16
Where: Warren County Library, Hackettstown
Deets: Come dressed in green and ready to perform fun science experiments in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day. Ages 8-17 can dye white flowers green, make rainbow paper and grow seeds from a sponge. Registration required.

Peter and the Wolf

When: Saturday, March 24
Where: Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center, Millville
Deets: This production has it all: singing, puppets and choreography. Young Peter will confront the dangers of the forest using his courage, creativity and leadership.

Colossal Carrot Adventure

When: Saturday, March 24
Where: iPlay America, Freehold
Deets: Stop by iPlay for a visit with Sonny the Bunny, which includes free pictures. Hit the trail and collect egg-cellent treats and prizes, plus enter a grand prize raffle (win a birthday party).

National AG Day Celebration

When: Monday, March 26
Where: Somerville Library, Somerville
Deets: Watch Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs after doing some early spring planting with kiddos grades K-5.

Easter Egg Hunts

When: Saturday, March 31
Where: North Wildwood, Wildwood, Long Branch
Deets: It may be a bit of a hike, but if you’re a family of egg-hunting enthusiasts, check out Elks Annual Easter Egg and Jaycee’s Wildwood Easter Egg Hunt for an egg-travagant experience. If you don’t want to travel too far, hit Easter at the Pier in Long Branch for a free meet and greet, bunny hop, face painting, an egg hunt and more.
