What’s better than wine and chocolate? Grab your girls for a Moms Day Out, gear up the kids for a chocolate-themed race, or bring your sweetie to an event where you can eat and drink all the things. Here are some of the best wine and chocolate (and coffee) themed events in NJ this winter:
February 9
Chocolate Walk
Downtown Bordentown
Grab your Chocolate Passport and stroll through Bordentown City, where chocolate goodies can be found at participating businesses.
February 9-11, 16-18
New Jersey Wine & Chocolate Trail Weekends
Throughout New Jersey
Garden State Wine Growers Association will host two weekends of Valentine’s Day-themed events that include wine tastings, artisanal chocolates, live music and more.
February 10
Rose City Chocolate Walk
Downtown Madison
Stroll through the downtown shops, where there will be sweet treats and chocolate-themed merch. Make truffles, listen to the reading of a Valentine’s Day- or chocolate-themed book at the library, or watch “Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory” at the Madison Community House.
Truffle Making
Museum of Early Trades & Crafts, Madison
During Madison’s Chocolate Walk, stop by the museum to learn about the history of chocolate. You’ll create your own Oreo truffles with baker Mindy Chase.
Wine & Chocolate Mardi Gras 5K
Renault Winery & Resort, Egg Harbor City
Families can join the race: kids get a chocolate medal at the end, and adults get chocolate and wine. There will be music and fun pre- and post-race. Check out the Vintner Wonderland ice skating, market shopping and fire pits.
Valentine’s Day Chocolate Truffle & Whiskey Tasting
Jersey Spirits Distilling Co., Fairfield
Handcrafted chocolate truffles will be matched with whiskeys during this 5-sample tasting. Light snacks will be served.
Sweet Stroll
Downtown Red Bank
Pick up a map of participating locations and then stroll through downtown, picking up sweets, treats, chocolate and Valentine’s Day gifts.
Coffee and Chocolate Sampling Event
Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary, Bernardsville
If it’s not wine, it’s coffee we’re after. New Jersey Audubon staff will serve up a freshly brewed cup of their Birds & Beans organic, bird-friendly, Fair Trade coffee. Try a piece of Endangered Species Chocolate made from Certified Fair Trade, non-GMO ingredients.
February 10-11
Wine & Chocolate Weekend
Natali Vineyards, Cape May Courthouse
You and your Valentine can spend the day tasting a variety of wine and chocolate. Flights will be paired with Wilbur Chocolate from Lititz, PA, and Ridgeview Sandtarts from Lancaster County.
February 10-11, 17-18
Wine & Chocolate Wine Trail Weekends
Terhune Orchards, Princeton
The chocolate pairings include a wine flight, chocolates and a souvenir glass. There will be live music, too.
