Dr. Douglas G. Avella offers patients experience and compassion when treating conditions ranging from competitive sports injuries, fractures and trauma to congenital disorders including clubfeet, hip disorders and scoliosis. Dr. Avella gets to know his patients and ensures that each child receives the best possible treatment.

“Everything our practice does is geared towards helping kids,” he says.

Practicing orthopedic surgery for more than 30 years, Dr. Avella completed his orthopedic training at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center and the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. He was the Peabody orthopedic fellow at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Avella has served as the team physician for the Bergen Catholic football team for three decades. Through medical mission organizations Healing The Children, Shalom Foundation and International Operation Kids, he volunteers his knowledge and skills globally several times a year.

Nominated as a New Jersey’s Favorite Kids’ Doc for the seventh year, Dr. Avella is affiliated with Valley Hospital, Hackensack University Medical Center, Holy Name Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Medical Center.
