At her private practices in Westfield and Allendale, Dr. Eileen Zhivago, board-certified in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry, offers comprehensive assessments and treatment plans for psychiatric issues. The practice recently expanded to meet the needs of her patients by welcoming therapists Robert Colantuono, LAC, and Caren Weingart, LCSW, and a psychiatric physician’s assistant, Ashley Strongwater, MPAS, PA-C.
“Kids are anxious about being back in school in person, and we know that time is of the essence right now—so we expanded our practice to help meet the needs of our community during these trying times and ensure that families aren’t left waiting for appointments,” Dr. Zhivago says.
Conservative, Evidence-Based Approach
Dr. Zhivago and her team take a conservative yet dynamic and modern approach when developing evidence-based strategies that ensure positive outcomes for their patients. The practice’s offices provide a comfortable and welcoming space but they are currently meeting with their patients virtually due to the COVID pandemic.
“We’re huge believers in reducing the stigma of mental health—there’s no shame in walking into a doctor’s office to get a strep test, and the same should apply when seeking help to improve yourself emotionally and psychologically,” Dr. Zhivago says.
Helping Families Thrive
The clinicians specialize in working with adults, adolescents, children and their families to help them better understand and manage life’s challenges. They’re committed to treating the whole person and communicating with each child’s therapist, pediatrician and school.
“We treat children as unique individuals to help them thrive in whatever they’re doing in life,” she says. “I love working with kids because they’re so genuine and honest—and helping them grow up to become fulfilled, productive adults is incredibly rewarding to all of us.”
