Date Night During Quarantine? Yes, You Can!

We know you’ve had a lot of togetherness the past two weeks, but how much of that has been sans kids?

We get it. You’ve had a lot of time together and you’re both exhausted after a long day of working at home or out of the house along with juggling your new gigs as school teacher and short-order cook. But it is possible to have some quiet date night time with your SO before you both pass out. So put the kids to bed a little early (lock ’em in their rooms if you have to… kidding… sorta) and try one of these ideas:

Order In Wine or Beer
A trip to the liquor store might not be on your list of essential stops. But you can get your favorite wine, beer or spirits delivered right to your door with Drizly. It’s like UberEats for booze. Find the ingredients for that awesome drink you had on your honeymoon to help make your stay at home time a little more fun.

Have Food Delivered From Somewhere Special
A lot of your typical date night faves which are normally dine-in only are now doing delivery on UberEats or DoorDash. So if there’s a hotspot with amazing food you’ve been waiting to try, now’s the time. Call the restaurant  and find out what the safest way to order is. Many offer non-contact curbside pick-up (meaning they put it in your trunk when you pull up).

Break Out the Grown-Up Board Games
Sounds silly, but all those fun games like Exploding Kittens or Cards Against Humanity seem so great, until you realize how inappropriate some of the cards are when the kids are around. So once they’ve gone to sleep, have fun with a PG-13 game.

Watch New Releases
Many movies that are currently in theaters are now available to rent at home, so once the kids have gone to bed, check out the Invisible Man or The Hunt or Emma

Try a Meal Subscription Box
If you’re tired of making the same old thing, mix it up with a meal-kit like Hello Fresh, Freshly, or Blue Apron. Most offer discounts for your first box. It’s a fun way to bond without worrying about your picky eaters.

Learn a New Hobby Together
There are classes in just about everything you can imagine available for free online. Have you wanted to learn guitar? Or to paint? Or to build a shed? Sure, this isn’t really a typical date night but it can be fun and productive to learn something new with your SO.

Plan Your Next Vacay
While travel is on  hold, take this time to think about where you might want to go when the time is right. You can take virtual tours of national parks, museums and other fun spots for inspiration. You can even try Duolingo and learn a new language together so you’ll be able to  have a convo once you arrive at your destination.

Sleep
If you’re both  exhausted from homeschooling, working and cooking (and who isn’t?), set an early bedtime together. This isolation period is a marathon and getting in some R&R will be essential every step of the way.
