sMASHinFASHin, July 10-28, 9 am-3 pm in Demarest, returns for another fabulous summer of design, day trips and swimming in a caring, home-camp setting focused on upcycling and environmental design. WHAT’S NEW THIS YEAR? Our designers will be creating Trashion Fashion: a 6-month installation at the Paterson Art Museum featuring runway looks created from manufacturing overrun materials! Our day begins with sewing, draping and design with a Project Runway vibe. Campers have access to a full studio, complete with mannequins, computerized sewing machines, ironing boards, glue guns and an array of decorative materials and fabrics; all that budding fashion designers need to grow skills in sewing, draping, pattern-making, fashion drawing, upcycling, textile making, and runway design! Young designers will take several exciting, educational day trips to various fashion hotspots, including Mood Fabrics, the FIT Museum in NYC, local fabric and thrift stores and the Paterson Art Museum to develop the installation. Visiting guest artists and counselors provide expert support and training. Spots are limited to twenty campers for individualized attention! Please visit www.smashinfashin.org for pricing and details.
