American Dream Is Finally Opening! There Are Epic Opening Celebrations Planned

After years of waiting, this massive attraction is actually opening in a month. Mark your calendars for these can't miss events.

American Dream

American Dream is officially opening on October 25 (yes, really!) and we couldn’t be more psyched! The East Rutherford behemoth will be rolling out the launches of various attractions, but will eventually be home to the continent’s first indoor snow park, the world’s first candy department store, next-level shopping and tons of attractions.

Here’s a timeline for how you and the kids can celebrate:

October 25

The long-awaited Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park is finally opening on this date. With 35 coasters and rides, it’ll be the largest indoor theme park in the Western hemisphere. Brave rides like The Shredder or Nickelodeon’s Skyline Scream before meeting the kids’ faves like SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer. Don’t miss live shows on the Slime Stage!

On the same date, American Dream’s NHL-sized ice rink is opening for open skating, hockey tournaments and more. Head there on Halloween in costume for pick-and-paint pumpkins, face painting and fall activities.

November 27

You won’t have to trek to the Poconos for winter swimming fun this year, the DreamWorks Water Park is opening with more than 40 slides and 15 attractions, including a 1.5-acre wave pool (that’s the biggest in the world!) and a lazy river. It’s the continent’s biggest indoor water park to date and is complete with 31 luxury cabanas to hang in. Dare to drop 142 feet on the world’s tallest indoor body slide. Movie-themed areas include Madagascar’s Rain Forst, Shrek’s Swamp and the Kung Fu Panda Zone.

December 5

Talk about a perfect gift for the kids! This holiday season, head to the slopes on Big SNOW, North America’s first indoor snow park, to see Santa open the park. Afterwards, go skiing or snowboarding down the bunny hill, the black diamond and everything in between. Ask about camps and lessons. Day passes and rentals will be available.

March 2020

By early next year, more than 350 shops including luxury brands and fashion cornerstones will open their doors. In addition, American Dream’s SEA LIFE Aquarium, LEGOLAND Discovery Center and Kidzania will be open for exploring. Before heading home, hop a ride on the 300-foot-tall Observation Wheel, and choose from more than 100 dining options, including the VICE MUNCHIES’ food hall.
