Move over, Nancy Drew. Your kids will soon be solving mysteries with a clever young detective named Mira. Inspired by Indian culture, Mira, Royal Detective is an animated mystery series for preschoolers that’s coming to Disney Junior.

Described as brave and resourceful, Mira is a commoner appointed to the role of royal detective after solving a mystery that saves the kingdom of Jalpur’s young prince. It’ll be the royal detective’s job to resolve mysteries for both royals and commoners along with the Prince, an inventor, her cousin Priya and her two mongoose sidekicks.

We love that the show promises to teach preschoolers to use critical thinking and deductive reasoning, while encouraging creativity and friendship. But we’re most excited about the fact that every episode will feature music, dance and customs inspired by Indian culture and customs.

“We are eager to introduce kids and their families to the rich, diverse cultures and customs of India through Mira, a young girl who looks at things with her own unique lens to gain different perspectives and help others in her community,” said Joe D’Ambrosia, senior vice president of original programming at Disney Junior. “We hope that she will encourage our audience to actively engage with the inspiring world around them and appreciate the little details that make life extraordinary.”

The series will feature an all-Indian cast. Mira, who will be voiced by 15-year-old Leela Ladnier. The rest of her crew includes Queen Shanti (Freida Pinto), young commoner Pinky (Hannah Simone), Auntie Pushpa (Jameela Jamil), mongooses Mikku and Chikku (Kal Penn and Utkarsh Ambudkar), bandits Manish and Poonam (Parvesh Cheena and Sonal Shah).

The only downer? You’ll have to wait until 2020 (when the show is set to premiere) to watch.
