This time last year, Electric Dandelions lit up Pier A Park and Monroe Center Plaza in Hoboken; this spring, Star Light Star Bright is the new glowing art installation along the waterfront.
The Hoboken Business Alliance Special Improvement District commissioned Hou De Sousa Design Studio to create a neon-lit structure with over 9,000 feet of fluorescent paracord. The brightly-colored, star-shaped space has an archway you can walk through, which frames the waterfront and NYC skyline. It looks like a landmark during the day, and transforms at night as it reflects light along the water.
The idea is to create bursts of color and light as winter transitions into spring.
The works of designers Nancy Hou and Josh De Sousa have been featured in Kansas City, Washington, D.C., Utah and NYC – but this is their first time setting up a display in New Jersey.
“Star Light Star Bright” will be viewable to all at Pier A Park in Hoboken through May.
