New Jersey's Best Towns for Families 2016

From rural hamlets to big bustling metropolises, we analyzed every town in the Garden State. Here are the spots that rose above the rest.

What makes a town a great place to raise a family? We tackled that question in New Jersey's Best Towns for Families in 2015 and now we're taking our second annual look, with updated data and new categories.  We looked at every sleepy borough and bustling city in the state, evaluating things like great schools, low crime, commute time and affordability. Plus, this year we added a new factor to our rankings—diversity—recognizing how important it is that our kids grow up with people who aren’t just like them. See New Jersey's Best Towns for Families and where your town landed on our list.
