Pick-your-own ​strawberry season is almost here! Grab your baskets and get the whole family outside. Head to these pick-your-own (PYO) farms near you for delicious, fresh berries, but be sure to call ahead for specific opening and picking times because the crops vary due to weather and quantity.
Alstede Farms

Strawberries are the first pick of the season and the best way to welcome summer, but the crop won’t be available until late May, and the season extends through June.
Battleview Orchards

Bonacorsi Family Farm

The Frenchtown location has PYO strawberries starting mid-May. The roadside stand, at a separate location, will have fresh produce to choose from.

If you’re going to the market soon, there are plenty of pre-packed strawberries for sale. The pick-your-own fields won’t be open until the end of May or beginning of June, but then lasts through the month. Check Facebook for timing updates.

Johnson’s Corner Farm

Strawberry picking is from mid-May to mid-June, and you can take a relaxing hayride to the strawberry, blueberry and peach fields. The kids can attend the Little Farmers class or go to the Discovery Barnyard playground.
Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm
2691 Monmouth Rd., Jobstown
This 17th-century preserved farm has family roots and rustic charm. Strawberries should will be the stars of the show during Berry Bash Festivals May 24-25, May 31 and June 1, and June 7-8. The farm market, animal farm and Tomasello Winery Tasting Room are open year-round.
Lee Turkey Farm

Strawberry and cherry picking kick off the u-pick season in June, followed by months of fresh produce you can pull off the trees, off the vines and out of the ground during the year.
Melick’s Town Farm

The plump, juicy berries are on their way. Strawberry reservations are updated at 4 pm for the next day’s schedule, so check before you go.
Ort Farms

The season runs from the end of May through the end of June. The patch is open daily from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, or until the day’s supply runs out.
Peterson Family Farm
438 Quakertown Rd., Frenchtown
Galletta, Flavorfest, Cabot and AC Valley Sunset are the varieties of strawberries grown here. Picking times are 3-7 pm Wednesdays and Thursdays and 9 am to 4 pm Fridays to Sundays. The season hasn’t started yet, but should last through the end of June.
Phillips Farms

Rowand’s Farm

Unfortunately, there will be no strawberry crop for the 2025 season, and the farm market closed – but look for updates for cherry picking in June.
Sahl’s Father Son Farm

You’ll have to schedule an appointment here to pick, with varying hours all week except on Wednesdays.
Snyder’s Farm

Expect the smell of fresh strawberries starting in mid-May. Synder’s Roadside Stand will open the first week of July.
Specca Farms

The season here should run until early June. Look for the large white barn and you’ll see the fields of berries.

While you wait for u-pick strawberries to grow in, keep checking Facebook for updated info (expected date is around Memorial Day). Right now you can visit the greenhouse, which is open every day; and the farm market will open on May 16. Then, come back for the Strawberry Festivals May 31-June 1, and June 7-8.

Springtime on the farm includes u-pick strawberries, greenhouse sales, and other produce like sweet corn, tomatoes, peaches and locally raised vegetables.

Picking begins in June “when the strawberries tell us they’re ready.” There will be blueberries, raspberries, cherries, blackberries, peaches, nectarines and apples throughout the season as well.
