You are never too young to be a hero, and a 5-year-old girl from Monmouth County is already inspiring others.
Evie Rytter from Colts Neck was diagnosed in March 2020 with neuroblastoma, a solid tumor cancer that took up most of her chest. Starting around age one, she had endured chemotherapy, countless scans, pricks and testing. She was treated at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Following Evie’s experience, the Rytter family decided to contribute to fundraising efforts of pediatric cancer research to be one step closer to a cure so in the future, these children do not have to endure what Evie went through at such a young age. They share their story and the long-term effects it leaves on the children and families who fight the horrible battle.
Since 2022, Evie has held Evie’s Lemonade Stand and has raised about $40,000 to help find a cure for neuroblastoma. Next week, she’ll hold her third annual benefit on June 10, the anniversary of her fourth year of being cancer free – which doctors believe means she is cured – and hopes to raise $50,000 for childhood cancer research.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) For Childhood Cancer, inspired by four-year-old Alex Scott’s lemonade stand to fund childhood cancer research, is now the largest independent childhood cancer charity in the U.S. ALSF has raised over $300 million, funding over 1,500 research projects at nearly 150 institutions across North America and Europe. To date, ALSF Lemonade Days have raised over $20.5 million through 30,000+ stands across all 50 states, and ALSF is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Lemonade Days.
Evie’s Lemonade Stand will be open from 7:30-10:30 am Monday at Evie’s elementary school, The Country Day School of Colts Neck, 293 Rte. 34, Colts Neck. You can also donate online through Evie’s ALSF page.
