Kids can get a jumpstart on exploring a career by heading to a job fair designed just for them. Career Carnival for Kids, LLC, will hold a free event based on career discovery experience for kids 8-14. It’s a great way for elementary and middle school students to learn about the health care, STEM, public safety, marketing, business and finance fields before they get to high school.
The kids will meet Career Guides (industry professionals) from different businesses, organizations and schools, so make sure they have some questions prepared in advance. So far, reps from Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind, F&S Digital, AtlantiCare, Horizon BCBSNJ, Langan, ASCE, HNTB, Ditmire Motorworks, Atlantic Cape Community College, Atlantic County Institute of Technology, as well as Steel Pier, Showboat Resort and Lucky Snake Arcade, are scheduled to appear.
If your teen is in grade 9 or up, they can stop by the Teen Hiring Station to learn about any part-time or seasonal work or volunteer opportunities that are available.
And, make sure they stop by the ACIT tables to have a passport stamped at each stop along the way. Show your completed passport on the last stop in your journey and collect a prize.
Everyone can join the hands-on activities, games and giveaways. Plus, Showboat Resort now has the largest arcade on the East Coast along with indoor go-kart racing.
As an added bonus, if you live in Atlantic or Cape May counties, your kids in grades 3-8 can enter the free Student Art Contest. They can design and submit artwork (by Feb. 27) based on Entrepreneurial Effort: Design a Logo; or Job Appreciation: Work that Makes Your World a Better Place.
Career Carnival for Kids will be held from 2-5 pm on March 11 at Showboat Resort in Atlantic City. The event is free. If you register via Eventbrite you will receive a discounted parking fee of $10 at the Showboat.
