Tulips are coming to New York City this spring. On April 7, more than 200,000 tulips will be available for the picking as part of Tulip Day in Union Square.
Everyone is invited to pick their own bouquet of 10 tulips for free. You must register in advance to download your free tickets.
This is a partnership between Royal Anthos, an organization that represents flower and tree agriculture around the world; the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands; tulip growers from the U.S. – including Jersey’s very own Holland Ridge Farms from Cream Ridge; and European bulb suppliers and the European Union.
During Tulip Day, the Consul General of The Kingdom of the Netherlands in New York, Ahmed Dadou, will present an exclusive New York tulip variety to the City of New York. This new tulip, named FUTURE400, commemorates this year’s anniversary of the first Dutch settlers landing on Governor’s Island 400 years ago and symbolizes another 400 years of collaboration and friendship between the United States and The Netherlands.
Tulip Day takes place from 11:30 am to 3 pm on April 7 at Union Square Park, 17th Street at Broadway and Park Avenue, New York, NY. VIP access is available from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm with a pre-registered ticket: skip the line, wander for longer than the 30-minute timeframe, and have access to bathrooms.
