We recently wrote about Bergen County's luxury dine-in theater, iPic, and we just got a chance to check out this new hotspot for ourselves. And it’s so great—we're already planning a return visit for our next girl's night out.
What makes this place different than other eat-in theaters around the state? Well, for starters, the food and drink options. The food is so good, you can skip reservations at an upscale restaurant and just dine at the movie with cuisine from James Beard Award winner Sherry Yard.
Located in Fort Lee, the theater is easily accessible off the NJ Turnpike. The chain is new to us (most of dine-in options in NJ are AMC theaters) but there are 13 other iPic Theaters in the U.S., with more on the way, including one in New York City. And this location features the restaurant City Perch Kitchen + Bar, where you can hang before or after the movie for a high-end farm-to-table food and drink experience.
During your movie, you can nibble on lobster rolls, pulled pork grilled cheese sandwiches and filet mignon sliders. The theater is always adding new specials from celebrity chefs and there's a resident mixologist on staff, who comes up with signature artisanal cocktails boasting fresh, local ingredients. We highly recommend noshing on their ham and cheese biscuits (with maple butter) and sipping on their Norma Jean cocktail with fresh strawberries, all delivered by iPic "ninjas," aka the waiters who sneak in at the push of a button to hand-deliver your food. It all happens while you sit under a plush courtesy blanket and pillow that makes you feel like you’re in first-class.
If you think the kids won’t appreciate Mahi Mahi fish tacos, you can choose to sit in the premium section, which has lounging recliners and access to their concession stand, so they can nosh on more traditional fare. Also perfect for the kids: Special Minecraft days where your little gamer can come in and compete against other players.
We can't wait to go back, but, we're taking advice from the owners and planning at least two weeks ahead. This hopping theater is focused on creating an upscale experience, which means it usually sells out well in advance.
