The Garden State is living up to its name once again, thanks to a new national honor. The Burlington County Farmers Market has been named the No. 4 best farmers market in the country by USA Today readers in the publication’s latest 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards poll. This is the first time the market has entered the contest.
In 2024, it had the honor of receiving the No. 1 in New Jersey and No. 3 in the Northeast designations from America’s Farmers Market Celebration by American Farmland Trust.
Every Saturday, around 60 farmers, agricultural vendors, food makers and artists sell honey, flowers, beer, pickles, soaps, hot sauces, cheeses, prepared foods, baked goods and fresh produce from the 68-acre former dairy farm on the Moorestown–Mount Laurel border. Many have been around for all 19 seasons of the farmers market, but vendors vary from week to week.
There’s more than shopping and eating here – there’s a lineup of music to entertain while you walk around the grounds. You can meet Rutgers Master Gardeners. There are demos and workshops on select dates.
The season is Saturdays, from 8:30 am to 1 pm, rain or shine, through November 22.
Special events include:
Peachy Party, August 2
Tomato & Pepper Day, August 30
Apple Appreciation Day, October 18
Holiday Market, November 22
Extra: Annual Holiday Market, December 6, 10 am to 2 pm
Every week, a newsletter is updated by noon on Friday so you can get the scoop on your favorite vendors. And the Ag Center has a recipe archive so you know just what to do with the produce you buy.
Burlington County has 31 farmers markets located in 18 towns. The Burlington County Farmers Market is located at the Burlington County Agricultural Center, 500 Centerton Rd., Moorestown. The property was preserved in 2005 so it could become a community garden and education center devoted to farming, food production, nutrition and land stewardship. The site also has community gardens, demo fields and a commercial kitchen.
