Hammonton takes its blueberries seriously. This town, nicknamed “the Blueberry Capital of the World,” hosts an annual festival to celebrate everyone’s favorite fruit.
The Red, White and Blueberry Festival is one event you won’t need to bring snacks to. Jumpstart your day brunching at the Kiwanis Blueberry Pancake Breakfast between 7 am and 1 pm. Browse the wares of a variety of food vendors and local craftsmen. Last year, the festival boasted blueberry scented candles and cannolis with blueberry filling.
If you’re up for a lot of eating, wear your yoga pants and sign up for the blueberry pie eating contest on the main stage. Hang by the stage for a day filled with entertainment from the world record holder in cannoli eating to live performances from bands like Stealing Savannah, a local group that plays rock ‘n’ roll and dance music.
Take a break from the blueberries to ride on kiddie amusement rides, catch air on inflatable bouncers and get creative with arts and crafts for the kiddos. Bring your little hotrod lovers to the car show, featuring cruisin’ classic wheels from around the area.
Stop by on Sunday, June 24 from 10 am to 5 pm to see (and taste!) all things blueberry. The festival take place on the grounds of Hammonton High School and offers free shuttles and free parking for visitors.
