What’s the best restaurant for brunch in New Jersey? Earlier this month, OpenTable released its annual list of the 100 Best Brunch Restaurants in America for 2021 and just one Garden State restaurant made the list. Coming in at number 80 nationally, Rooney’s Oceanfront Restaurant in Long Branch is the top choice for brunch in NJ.

How did OpenTable come up with its Best Brunch Restaurants in America list? The list was culled from more than 12 million verified diner reviews of over 30,000 restaurants in 50 states and Washington, D.C between from April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021.
If you’ve never been to Rooney’s, it’s billed as “a leading destination for delectable cuisine, beautiful views, and a welcoming staff” for more than 20 years. Led by Executive Chef Thomas Schoborg, “Rooney’s continuously provides innovative, seasonal dishes” and its oceanfront views are pretty amazing, too.

California was the most recognized state on the best brunch list with 17 restaurants honored for brunch followed by Florida and Pennsylvania with eight winning restaurants. But we think New Jersey has plenty more spots worth traveling to for an amazing brunch!
In Long Branch, we also love McLoone’s (and its sister spots aorund the state) and Avenue Le Club. Some of our other favorites are Huntley Taverne in Summit, Willow & Whisk in Wyckoff, Frank’s in Asbury Park, Raymonds in Montclair and Ridgewood, (we love the Huevos Rancheros and avo toast), Committed Pig in Summit and Morristown (especially if you’re craving an egg, bacon and cheese sandwich), Sorriso Kitchen in Chatham (get the brioche French toast) and the Salt Creek Grille in Rumson.
