Chances are you’ve been to High Point State Park and climbed up to Kittatiny Ridge, which is the highest point of elevation in the state with a view of trees and mountains for miles across New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. If you look down, you’ll see rolling hills and serene lakes. If you’re planning a visit to hike, camp, meditate, sightsee – or even snowshoe or ski, when the time comes – be sure to stop by the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Monument.

The Delaware Water Gap. which runs through NJ and PA, placed 22nd on the national list. Its lesser-explored trails, scenic overlooks and river vistas offer spectacular golden hues for nature enthusiasts.

Hacklebarney State Park in Long Valley, Morris County, came in at No. 135 for its mix of hardwood trees amid rocky terrain and waterfalls you’ll see on your hike.
