These Are The Top 8 Hospitals in NJ, According to US News & World Report

The new rankings showcase how many specialties each hospital is known for nationally

Each year, U.S. News & World Report ranks hospitals in 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. Of the nearly 5,000 hospitals analyzed and 30,000 physicians surveyed, 160 hospitals in the country ranked in at least one of the specialties. Here are the highest-rated hospitals in New Jersey, out of a total of 97.

No. 1 Hackensack University Medical Center at Hackensack Meridian Health in Hackensack is nationally ranked in eight specialties and four children’s specialties, and is high-performing in one specialty and 18 procedures/conditions.

In second place is Morristown Medical Center in Morristown which is nationally ranked in four specialties, and is high-performing in three specialties and 20 procedures/conditions.

Third-ranked Valley Hospital – which was previously located in Ridgewood but relocated to Paramus earlier this year – is high-performing in two specialties and 16 procedures/conditions.

Jersey Shore University Medical Center at Hackensack Meridian Health, in Neptue, comes in at No. 4. It’s nationally ranked in one specialty and four children’s specialties, and high performing in four specialties and 11 procedures/conditions.

Overlook Medical Center in Summit, at No. 5, is high-performing in four specialties and 11 procedures/conditions.

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick placed at No. 6. The hospital is nationally ranked in two children’s specialties, and high-performing in one specialty and 12 procedures/conditions.

No. 7 Cooper University Health Care in Camden is high-performing in 10 procedures/conditions.

Jefferson Health-Statford, Cherry Hill and Washington Twp., located in Stratford, is 8th on the list and is high-performing in eight procedures/conditions.

U.S. News evaluated each hospital’s performance using data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the American Hospital Association, professional organizations and medical specialists. The specialties include cancer care, cardiology, neurology/neurosurgery, rehabilitation, orthopedics, urology, and others.
