Babynames.com has released its most popular baby names of 2020 list and there are some old favorites plus some new additions. The website bases its list on the names that are added to their users’ favorite name lists. “Our popularity lists tend to predict the U.S. Social Security baby names popularity lists because our members are naming future babies!” says the website.

The top baby girl name for 2020 is…Amelia! This name, which has been in the top 10 for over a decade now, is derived from the Germanic word amal meaning ‘work’ and was ranked number seven on the Social Security list for 2019. (Note: Rankings combine stats for different spellings of the same name, so Emilia was also considered number one).

The name Oliver was the number one choice for boys in 2020. The name is originally derived from the Latin word olivarius meaning olive tree planter. It also has Old French and Medieval origins.
