Little paleontologists will be fascinated to see SUE, not just because she’s housed inside the epic Liberty Science Center, but because she is the most complete, best preserved T. rex ever discovered.

Starting this weekend, you can see an exact cast of SUE’s skeleton – she is 40 feet from snout to tail, and 13 feet tall at the hip. A multimedia light show will show details of her skeleton. And a full-size, fleshed-out replica of a T. rex battling an Edmontosaurus will have you imagine what SUE was actually like during the Cretaceous period.

As part of the exhibit, you can touch bronze casts of some of her bones, you’ll hear her growl, and you’ll be able to smell her breath (seriously!).

Other stations will have real dinosaur fossils; plus digital technologies will show the latest scientific discoveries, like a giant floor-to-ceiling screen that projects realistic animations of SUE and other prehistoric animals.

SUE was first discovered in 1990 in Faith, South Dakota, by paleontologist Sue Hendrickson. The fossils are on permanent display at the Field Museum in Chicago. The traveling exhibit is landing at Liberty Science Center for a limited time this fall – but the Capella family of NJ has actually spent the past four years traveling across the country to see SUE in different exhibits more than 60 times. Now age 7, Hunter Capella has been named LSC’s Kid Science Advisor – Dino Edition, and he got to install some of the fossils in the exhibit.

Liberty Science Center is located at 222 Jersey City Blvd., Jersey City. SUE will be on site from October 4 through May 25, 2026. The exhibit is included with your admission ticket.
