Going to the movies can be a struggle if have a child with special needs. We know dark rooms and loud noises can make for an unpleasant experience. The good news? AMC and Regal Theatres are offering sensory-friendly movie options. During specific showtimes, lights are turned up and sound lowered, allowing kids to get up, dance, sing, shout and express their emotions throughout the movie.
AMC is partnering with the Autism Society to exhibit their sensory-friendly films. On the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, AMC will show family-friendly movies and on Tuesday evenings, will designate movies for more mature audiences. Be sure to check your local AMC theatre for participation and showtimes.
Regal’s My Way Matinee program is similar, offering both turned up lights and low sound, allowing for guests to feel comfortable while enjoying some of their favorite movies. All screening times for sensory-friendly movies will be at 10:30 am on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Ticket prices will be discounted as well.
