Seaside Heights’ Boardwalk Is Set to Get a Major Upgrade

The area that burned down in 2013 is making a seriously awesome comeback.

You may remember that huge fire in 2013 that destroyed the south end of the Seaside Heights boardwalk (yup, the one that took down Kohr’s Frozen Custard and Funtown) and parts of Seaside Park. According to NJ.com, the devastated area will finally be rebuilt in phases as an epic pool complex, featuring a pavilion, outdoor bar and cabana.

The complex is part of Seaside’s attempt to polish its image and make it more family-friendly. MTV’s Jersey Shore gave it more of a party reputation.

The project will be completed in phases: first the outdoor pop-up bar (expected to open this Memorial Day), then the 7,500-square-foot pavilion with an indoor bar, pool with cabanas and terrace facing the beach (expected to open a year later by Memorial Day 2019). What better way to kick off summer than by sipping a drink while overlooking the Atlantic?

There’s a third phase of construction, too, that’s yet to be disclosed. But something tells us it’ll be totally worth the wait.
