COVID-19 restrictions have shuttered many businesses, and others are now operating in takeout and delivery capacities only. But essential businesses like local farms are open (just like grocery stores). Call ahead to confirm hours and regulations, and be sure to keep a safe distance from others while you shop.
Offering local gourmet items, homemade kitchen items and country crafts, Abma’s Farms is open Monday-Friday from 8 am-6 pm and Saturday from 8 am-5:30 pm. Delivery and curbside pick-up options are available. During this challenging time, Abma’s Farms has started a t-shirt fundraiser for Farmers Against Hunger, a state-wide program in which farmers send produce to local food banks and pantries for those in need.
Get produce, milk, eggs, bread, homemade ice cream, meat and other goods from 9 am-6 pm. Curbside pick-up is available for $5 and delivery for $10. Inquire at 908-258-6245. Customers who order online are also able to pick up at select farmers markets.
The country store is open from 10 am-4 pm every day except for Tuesday until further notice. Cider, baked goods, paper products and beyond are all available for curbside pickup only. Customers are now able to pick their own strawberries. Details and restrictions are updated daily after 4 pm on their Facebook page.
For blooming flowers, herbs and fresh donuts head to Demarest Farms, open every day from 9 am-5 pm. Beginning June 8, the farm will be operating a drive-in theatre showing films fit for the whole family like Grease, Toy Story 4 and Jurassic Park.
While preparing to plant lettuce, broccoli and heirloom tomatoes, the farms’ most popular section is its plentiful fresh herbs. Inside, the farm market is fully stocked with all your barbecue needs and the long-awaited Washington State Rhubarb. The farm market is open Monday-Saturday from 9 am-6 pm and Sunday from 10 am-5 pm.
Offering more than 200 types of tomato plants, Dreyer’s Farms is open daily from 8 am-5 pm, with the first two hours of operation reserved for senior citizens, pregnant and immunocompromised shoppers. The farm also carries flowers, desserts and other fresh produce.
Easton Farmers’ Market
While the market has temporarily relocated to Scott Park, local vendors are still offering fresh produce, dairy and specialty foods. The farmers market takes place every Saturday from 9 am-1 pm.
Farms View Roadstand
For delicious and fresh strawberries you pick from the field, Farms View is open Monday-Saturday from 9 am-6 pm and Sunday from 9 am-6 pm. Prior to your visit, please call 973-839-1212 to confirm “u-pick” hours and availability.
Giamarese Farm & Orchards
This family-owned farm is open Tuesday-Sunday from 10 am-6 pm. With field-fresh produce, pick-your-own strawberries, flowers and more, Giamarese Farm & Orchards offers curbside pick-up for those who don’t feel comfortable shopping in person.
Lee Turkey Farm
For oven-ready turkeys and fresh fruit and cream pies, Lee Turkey Farm is offering curbside pick-up. Weather pending, the farm is hopeful they’ll be open for strawberry picking. Customers can call 609-448-0629 to schedule orders and pick-ups.
With a new online store, Ort Farms is offering items from mulch and flowers to baked goods and jellies. The market is open Monday-Saturday from 9 am-7 pm and Sunday from 9 am-7 pm.
Family-owned for four generations, this farm offers a wide variety of produce, candy and dairy products. Schaefer Farms also sells more than 100 scents of soy-blend candles from its own candle company.
Sun High Orchards
This orchard offers freshly bottled milk, self-serve stacks of firewood and friendly animals for viewing. Open daily, customers should call for hours and new shopping policies at 973-584-4734.
With increased safety measures like hand-washing sinks for customers, pick-up and delivery, Terhune has plenty of shopping options, plus items like fresh bread, pantry items and kid-friendly treats and pick-your-own strawberries. The farm store is open every day from 9 am-5 pm.
Offering homemade ice cream, garden supplies and more, Tranquility Farms is open daily, even offering private shopping for senior citizens and high-risk customers on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30-10 am. This family-run farm is also inquiring about the possibility of offering summer programs for children, with surveys and updates being posted on its Facebook page.
Von Thun’s Country Farm Markets
Open for online orders and in-person shopping, Von Thun’s offers a variety of fresh and homemade products including bundle packs of produce, fruit and breakfast items. The farm and market are open daily from 10 am-6 pm.
This local farm market offers online shopping for no-contact curbside pick-up. Offering grass-fed beef, pasta and fresh fruit, the farm market is open Monday-Friday from 8 am-6 pm and Saturday-Sunday from 8 am-5 pm.
Stocked with fresh herbs, eggs and produce, Zell’s Farm is offering a home delivery service for its products. Delivery is available for customers residing in Hillsborough, Somerville, Bridgewater, Flemington and other local towns listed on its website. For orders over $50, delivery is free and for those under $50, there’s a $5 delivery fee.
