One of our favorite malls in New Jersey is slated for a major redevelopment. Currently, Monmouth Mall in Eatontown has 1.5 million square feet of retail space. The redevelopment plan will demolish 600,000 square feet, leaving 900,000 square feet of retail to remain. Then, 1,000 new apartments will be constructed on the vacant land. And there will be an open air area to stroll through shops and apartments.
There will be a total of 115,000 square feet of medical office space on the property. A Whole Foods Market is also planned for the site.
“The centerpiece of the project is a public green that will be open to those who reside at the property, as well as members of the public. This space will be available for programming to include farmers markets, live music and other events. There will be a new playground constructed on the green as well,” Michael Sommer, chief development officer for Kushner, told New Jersey Family.
Demolition is set to begin in March.
