With Superstorm Sandy and additional weather-related events, over the past two years, children in the Northeast have been hit hard on Halloween. This year, zombies ascend amongst us in honor of the Jersey Shore rising up after Hurricane Sandy.
Stronger than the Storm is partnering with the New Jersey Zombie Walk to encourage the public to walk amoungst the undead in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record™ for the ‘largest gathering of zombies.’
This Saturday, October 5th, an estimated 20,000 people will attend the great zombie walk. Celebrating its sixth annual hobbling of the undead, the event has grown from just 500 zombies in 2008, and event creator Jason Meehan has seen the event triple in size every year.
The zombie walk will consist of a free, public gathering of participants of all ages, who will dress up like zombies and make their way around city streets to spook and surprise. Creepily lining the boardwalk will be vendors of horror and over 50 Makeup Artists will conduct Zombie Makeovers.
In an effort to lend a severed hand to help local causes, the Central Jersey Blood Center will be hosting their Zombie Blood Drive at the Walk. In addition, The Move for Hunger organization will also be on-site to collect canned goods for local shelters and food banks.
