Depending on where you live in NJ, you likely watch New York- or Philadelphia-based local news on TV (unless your cable provider carries News12). NJ mom Lisa Marie Falbo is determined to change that. Together with Gerald D’Ambra, the two are co-launching On NJ, the Garden State’s first 24/7 streaming channel. We asked her about the channel, her philanthropic work and what she loves to do in NJ with her husband and kids.
New Jersey Family: What inspired you to co-launch On New Jersey?
Lisa Marie Falbo: If you remove New Jersey from the New York and Philly-designated market areas (DMA), the NJ DMA would rank as the 4th-largest in the country! Yet, there is a growing gap in NJ journalism and TV coverage.
NJF: What type of programming will air?
LMF: On New Jersey will cover everything from top news, community and politics to sports, business, lifestyle and more. I host Your New Jersey which focuses on inspiring stories, non-profits and community leaders from throughout the state.
NJF: Tell us about some of the other projects you’ve worked on throughout your career.
LMF: I’ve worked in radio, for WFAN Sports Radio and the New York Giants Radio Network. I’ve contributed to and written books, including the romantic comedy novel, “Ten Years Later.” I’ve hosted numerous local television and digital programs. Since 2009, I’ve owned and operated Long Shot Productions, an Emmy-nominated video production company. In 2021, I co-launched Media First Group with Gerald, and we produce content for broadcast television, cable and streaming.
NJF: You were recently honored by Halos for Angels. Tell us about this and your other philanthropic work.
LMF: Halos for Angels offers support to those who are in need due to a sudden tragedy. Among other organizations I have extensively worked with and feel passionate about include Alzheimer’s New Jersey, the American Heart Association and the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund.
NJF: What do you love most about living in East Hanover?
LMF: It’s a close-knit, safe, family community. It may not have a glitzy zip code like some of the other surrounding suburban towns, but East Hanover has a lot going on while keeping its low-key vibe.
NJF: Describe what a perfect day in New Jersey looks like for you.
LMF: It would start by riding my bike down the boardwalk in Wildwood and end with a scenic dinner overlooking the NYC skyline in Jersey City.
