If you’ve done all the puzzles you can stand during the COVID-19 quarantine, and want to learn a new hobby instead, the arts and crafts store Michaels has tapped some craft influencers to teach free virtual classes most weekdays at 1 PM. You can learn everything from crocheting to making your own greeting cards or cake decorating.

Michaels’ virtual classes are every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 1 pm ET, and are free, though they do require advanced registration (you can sign up here). Today’s class will walk you through  making your own face masks a little more unique (and if you need some masks to start with, we’ve got an awesome tutorial). This coming Monday, the Sweet Tooth Fairy herself Megan Faulkner Brown will be showing you how to make those beautiful drip cakes. It’s great timing if someone in the house has a big birthday coming up and you can’t get to the bakery. If you’ve got a Cricut cutting machine that’s collecting dust or still in the box, you can also learn how to use it to make cute greeting cards (perfect for Mother’s Day).

On Thursday Tamara Kelly of Moogly will be showing you how to make a cute crochet basket. And before you think you can’t crochet, this woman gives excellent tutorials (check out her blog for a lot of great beginner stuff). She taught me how to do more than just a basic stitch (though she can show you how to do that too and I recommend her to all my friends who want to learn crochet).

If those crafts aren’t your thing, there are new classes added weekly. On Wednesdays, at 1, Michaels  offers a family-friendly activity on Facebook Live. If you miss the virtual classrooms, the  website is packed with how-to videos for you and the kids. Make everything from paper flowers to painted rocks with boredom busters, and fun ideas and activities to do with things you already have at home and some empty TP rolls.
