New Jersey Family: Tell us about Kid PT and what makes it unique.

Joni Redlich: Kid PT is unique because we are an inviting play-based space, where our children can come and have multi-disciplinary support to become their best selves. Our focus is always on supporting the family as a whole and building not just our children’s skills, but their confidence and self-esteem.

NJF: How do you support children with developmental challenges and help them reach their potential?

JR: Our team provides physical therapy and occupational therapy with pediatric specialists who know how to integrate a child’s interests, play and activities to achieve outcomes and goals. In addition to our services, we are home to a speech therapy practice so that we can provide a truly collaborative approach for our families. We have unique technologies and approaches that open doors for change.

NJF: What has working with children with development challenges taught you over the years?

JR: Children with developmental challenges have taught me how to live in the moment, how we can communicate in so many ways beyond just speaking, and how we can achieve far beyond what others have thought if we believe and work for it.

NJF: When did you launch Kid PT and what was your biggest inspiration?

JR: I launched my practice in 2016 when I realized that I was surpassing any outcomes that I had previously with my therapeutic approaches and wanted to give more access to families to have the same experience for their children.

NJF: What was your proudest moment as a practice owner?

JR: My proudest moments are watching my team working with all the children in the clinic, seeing the smiles and goals achieved, and knowing I’m having a much greater impact on the community than I could have alone.

NJF: What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever gotten that you want to share with others?

JR: My best advice I have received is to keep pushing outside of your comfort zone. It isn’t easy, but that’s always where growth comes.

NJF: What’s it like juggling raising kids with running a business?

JR: It is a challenge everyday, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Hearing my daughter tell me she wants to run my business one day makes me so proud of the role model I have been able to be for both of my girls.

NJF: What’s next for Kid PT?

JR: I am so excited for the future. We have just increased our space, which has allowed us to launch our summer program, Connect and Play. This is a transformational experience that provides autistic and neurodivergent children an immersive therapeutic experience to accelerate their development and maximize their potential. The program will provide comprehensive speech, physical therapy and occupational therapy supports along with enrichments such as yoga, drumming, art, musc and therapeutic horseback riding.  I am so excited to be able to offer this opportunity at Kid PT.
