Having to quarantine and self-isolate at home for the last month has been stressful. For those of us who are working from home, it’s hard to navigate homeschooling and working, but there are a few perks like living in our yoga pants, not having to spend hours commuting, and a comfy couch. There’s also another perk many in NJ people have been indulging in–drinking while working from home.
A survey by alcohol.org shows that newly 35 percent of New Jersey residents are having an adult beverage while still working at home. Makes you wonder what’s in your co-workers coffee cups during those Zoom meetings, right?
The survey also found that beer is the top pick for workers who drink while on the job. More than 1 out of 3 people are more likely to drink alcohol while in isolation and a fifth of people surveyed said that they stockpiled alcohol for their time in self-isolation. While we haven’t been drinking on the job, we definitely made sure the wine fridge was well stocked before quarantine.
New Jersey wasn’t among the state’s with the highest percentage of people drinking while working. Virginia has almost a 50 percent rate of people drinking while working from home while Maine has just a 15 percent rate. For more where other states stand, head to alcohol.org or click on the map below.
