Just in time for Earth Day (April 22), Liberty Science Center is presenting a new show in its planetarium that focuses on the future of our planet.
Arcadia Earth will premiere the visually stunning “A Vision for Tomorrow” as a 360-degree journey high above your head, teaching you about our relationship with the planet, and the future we can create. Each show is a lesson in humanity and nature while bringing together art, science and technology.
The first of the four-part series debuts at LSC during Earth Week, which is April 19 to 27. This show will highlight the importance of trees to the Earth, and how they support life for everything on the planet. You’ll learn how forests help people, the water system, wildlife and the climate.
Each show ends with a call to action, so you can inspire your kids to help the planet. You’ll get a QR code at the end so you can research more initiatives and non-profits.
You’ll see all of the images come to life on the 89-foot screen of the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium, which is the largest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere. It’s quite impressive, since the screen is 89 feet, has a resolution of 88 million pixels, a lighting system that can produce more than 281 trillion (!) colors, and speakers capable of producing 30,000 watts of digital sound.
The other segments in the series are about air (pollution and fossil fuels), water (the need to conserve and restore sources) and soil (food production and its impact on sustainability). You can catch them all when the film hits theaters in June.
“A Vision for Tomorrow” will be shown at 10:15 am April 19 to 27 at Liberty Science Center, 222 Jersey City Blvd., Jersey City. The shows are free with general admission, as part of LSC’s Wild About Animals Earth Day celebration.
